VeloMail, from Jools Walker.
I'm Jools Walker - an author, voiceover artist, and experienced broadcaster across TV, Radio and Podcasting.
Most people know me as LadyVelo from my previous work in the cycling industry. That chapter of my life started in 2010 with my blog, Vélo-City-Girl. From there, I went on to present on ITV4's The Cycle Show, co-founded the Women Of Colour Cycling Collective, and penned the best-selling memoir 'Back in the Frame: Cycling, Belonging and Finding Joy on a Bike'.
What’s VeloMail about?
VeloMail is my space for storytelling about my life beyond cycling. Launched initially on TinyLetter (RIP) in 2018, I officially moved to Substack in September 2023 to produce more varied content and connect with a broader community. I missed the old-school element of blogging, and I’m getting back to it with VeloMail.
In my Welcome post, I explain my reasons for joining this platform and what VeloMail is about.
What does “life beyond cycling” look like?
Although I'm not as involved in the cycling industry as I used to be, I occasionally talk about bikes. However, I'm also passionate about other things, such as food culture, photography, sneakers and street style, stories from the Black diaspora, health and wellbeing, and mental health. I'll include these topics and more in VeloMail.
